The Progress Protection Menu is totally flexible. It allows you to write up to 12 different types of cover in a single plan, with just one application, and one fee.

You simply have to enter the lives to be covered, the type of cover and the term etc. then check the adviser terms. You'll get an almost instant result with details of the premiums and the option to adjust the Plan details or, if there are reasons why the quote can't be performed, an explanation why. You can then save and print the quote for later or apply straight away.

All the details you've keyed will automatically populate the application screens. You'll simply be asked for more details of the Planholder and for payment details for Direct Debit. You'll then have to answer a variety of general, medical and occupational underwriting questions. There are no automatic GP reports at any age or sum assured, but if any are needed, decisions are emailed to advisers within 48 hours of receipt of medical information. And clean cases can be on risk within 10 minutes.

You can track your application online too. Just go to the Adviser Extranet and search for an application using a variety of search criteria. You'll be told what, if any, further information is required - such as direct debit mandates, trust forms, or money laundering prevention information. It also shows all the underwriting requirements, history and status including things such as PMA and blood tests.
